Adventure Holidays in Mozambique: Hike, Bike and Fish the Machangulo Peninsula

Hike the coast with us on the Five Day Trail

Our flagship adventure is the Five Day Trail, six days and six nights with five days of walking and roughly eighty nine kilometres of pristine beach. We will be straight with you, it is a real challenge, and it is also one of the most life changing trips we run. You walk on hard sand through wide open spaces, each night brings different accommodation with its own character, and we keep a support vehicle behind you the whole way.

This is the trip for people who want to earn their views, and we love guiding it. By the end you have walked the length of an untouched coastline and arrived in Santa Maria a slightly different person to the one who started.

Ride the beach on our bike safari

Prefer two wheels? Our Bike Safari covers the same incredible route between Malongane and Santa Maria over two riding days, on a mountain bike or an electric bike. We take you along forest tracks, across dunes and down salt air singletrack for about two to three hours a day, then we bolt on a few extra days in Santa Maria, including an island tour to Inhaca.

It is one of the most unusual rides we know of in Southern Africa, a point to point coastal route that simply does not exist anywhere else.

Fish for sailfish, GTs and marlin

For a lot of our guests the fishing is the adventure. Off Santa Maria we put you onto sailfish, GTs, wahoo, yellowfin and dorado all year, with marlin from January to April. You can book a full Game Fishing Safari with us or add a fishing day or two to a trail trip. Either way it is world class water at a price we still find hard to believe ourselves.

The rest of what we can show you

The peninsula is packed with options, and we can add most of them to any trip. Snorkel clear reefs in a marine reserve. Take a game drive to see elephant and kudu. Fly over the coast on a tandem paraglider, where the sunset window is the one we always push for. Or recover with a spa treatment in Santa Maria after the walking.
