How to Truly Disconnect in Mozambique
We hear it from almost everyone who books with us. They want to switch off. The trouble is that most holidays are not built for it. We built ours around exactly that, on a quiet stretch of the Machangulo Peninsula in Mozambique where switching off is not a promise on a brochure, it is just what happens. Here is what we see, season after season.
Why we chose this corner of Mozambique
We guide people along this coast because there is nowhere quite like it. The Machangulo Peninsula runs south of Maputo in a long, wild ribbon of beach, and for most of it there is no signal, no traffic and no noise. When we walk our guests out onto that hard sand on the first morning, the change starts almost immediately. There is nothing to check, so people stop checking.
That is the honest reason Mozambique works for a real digital detox. We are not asking you to resist your phone. The peninsula simply takes it out of your hands.
What we watch happen
We have done this enough times to know the pattern. The first day is the hardest. Hands reach for a phone that has gone quiet. By the second day, people change. They start talking again, noticing the colour of the water, sleeping right through the night. We have watched guests arrive wound up and leave lighter than they have felt in years.
Our trail walks you along the coast from Ponta Malongane towards Santa Maria, and we keep a support vehicle behind you the whole way. You walk, you swim when you feel like it, and each evening we have comfortable beachfront accommodation waiting, with a hot shower, a cold drink and dinner ready. You are off the grid, but we never let it feel like roughing it.
Disconnect to reconnect
Everything we do sits in those three words. We do not think the point of switching off is the switching off. It is what comes back when the noise stops. We see couples actually talk. We see parents and kids walk side by side for hours. We see people remember what they are like when nothing is pulling at them. The peninsula does that work. We just guide you through it.
We take care of everything
We do not want you planning a thing. All we ask is that you get yourself to the Kosi Bay border or to Maputo, and we handle the rest from there. Every trip we run is small group and exclusive, so it is only ever your party on the trail, never strangers. Meals, accommodation, guiding, a game drive and snorkelling are all included.
Come and switch off with us
If you have been promising yourself a proper break, let us give you one. Tell us how many of you there are and when you would like to come, and we will build the trip around you.
